Welcome to...2024, 36 years of continuous service to our community!

From the first biscuit baked to raise funds for the organisation, the tradition has continued and assists the organisation to provide programmes, services and support to many and maintain the organisation's facilities.

With 13 days of baking this year from 8 to 24 April, we are ready to bake and deliver our delicious golden biscuits far and wide.

We invite all the readers of our blog to join us again this year.

As always, we would not be able to successfully hold an Anzac Bake without our many supporters - from the businesses and organisations selling the biscuits for us, suppliers, volunteers; and of course all our loyal customers who return year after year to buy our biscuits (we hope you are enjoying some as you check out our blog!) - a big thank you to all of you.

If you would like a basket of biscuits for your business to sell, please email us at
auroradisability@auroradisability.org.au or call us on 6273 0916.

Day 7 - You could say we're on a roll...

And the biscuit tally is...

26,200

Today we baked 5,130 biscuits, our biggest day yet this year. Another wonderful group of Aurora Energy volunteers came to help, as well as some very special young volunteers... Orders are flying out the door and the engine is running at top speed to keep up with them. Let's go on a scenic tour of today...

Dean and John got off to a
flying start at the butter table.

Reinforcements! Raj brought her daughters to help,
Prabhleen worked with Viva at the butter table.

Now this was a busy table,
Xavier and Sia also found a spot.

Taylah works on inserting labels in the cello bags.

And Gary practises his date writing.

Next comes the labels, David and Garry on one side.

No stranger to this job, Jennifer has
done all this many times in previous bakes.

Sukhman and Arshveer are helping us during
their school holidays also.

With Wayne, mum Raj and Laurie on the other side
measuring, cutting and threading gumnuts.

Dry mix on a countdown, or is that counting up?
Stuart and Veronica making sure there's
10 level cups of every ingredient.

Georgia's first day in this year's Bake,
working with Bryce and Shane in the kitchen.

Big smiles say it all as she
measures out the bicarb.

Steph and Jordan perfecting rolling efficiency.

In the pantry there's strength in numbers.
Saroj, Jennifer and Sarah on one table.

And Richard on the other.

Drum roll...we have a new product!!!

Nominated for the innovation award,
Pam has the one and only Aurora Anzac Roll.
OK, none of us know how she did it either,
but a brilliant save, it didn't fall on the floor! 😀

Lift and pack! Ris and Ben.

With Luke on the other side packing another bag.

For the final touch, Kim ties the bags
with ribbon and gumnut.

And here they come...

Not only is Kelly on the go all day
holding it all together, she does it in style!

Alyson made a number of very special Anzac
themed aprons for this year's Bake and
Kelly has matching poppy leggings to go with it.

Along with the clipboard, red goes faster...

Now normally we start a visitor day with the staircase photo, today however, everyone was so eager to get started that this tradition was forgotten for a moment... We've put that to rights this afternoon and here they are, today's Aurora Energy volunteers! Thank you so much for coming to help us today and they even stayed on longer to help the Meals on Wheels volunteers to pack their special order.

And they're still smiling too after that huge effort!

Helping with those last few for today...

Then the Meals on Wheels volunteers finished
the packing and labeling for another top effort.

And that brings us to the end of another day, about halfway through this year's Bake. See you all tomorrow, we'll be right here baking!
