And the biscuit tally is...
41,340
Today we only baked 5,340 biscuits... Wait a minute, only? That's another new daily record and we passed last year's total in the bargain!
We'll be at the Cherry Hut again over the weekend, so if you're passing through Granton either Saturday or Sunday, look out for us and stop for a packet or two of delicious golden biscuits. Now let's take a look at today's baking...
Laurie started on the butter sculptures for the day.
Along with Viva and Tony.
Dean and Naomi prepared and dated bags.
Whilst Julie and Pam added
some labels to the next lot.
Rod and Sia stirring a mix ready for the kitchen,
Refilling the containers for the next mix
is Gary.
And to the kitchen it goes!
Where Ilter and Joy assist Jennifer to carefully
pour the boiling water to the correct level.
It might be Day 10 but there's still plenty
of smiles, Georgia working with Bryce.
Jeremy has a tray ready for the oven.
Rolling, rolling, rolling, nearly ready says Cherie.
Garry, Maree and Hayley got theirs done.
And here's another one says David.
Ovens keep baking!
And after they've rolled out of the oven and
cooled they're ready to lift.
Shane's doing that job this morning.
Then it's packing, 10 to a bag, and not just any way,
there's a real technique to this too which
Steph and Michael have got down to a fine art.
Damian and Dallas making it look easy on the
other side of the table.
Emma takes a turn tying the ribbons
while in the background Angelique does a little
basket maintenance before packing the next order.
You thought they'd escaped our attention today?
No they didn't! Today's Aurora Energy volunteers
might have been small in number but they
worked like troopers to help us with all those biscuits.
Thank you folks for all your hard work!!!
Now we're all cleaned up and ready to hang up the aprons for the weekend, but we'll be back next week for a few more days of baking. Can we beat last year's tally has been the question... There's a good chance of it, but no matter what the final number, each biscuit has been created with the same amount of care and enthusiasm by our amazing team! See you next week 😊
